Who am I?
An exec in a different industry by day, game dev by night. Coding games is a creative outlet for me.
My Gaming Journey
I've been an avid gamer my whole life. My first journey into the publisher side of things happened sort of by accident about 5 years ago. A company I founded to commercialize NASA sleep technology made a gamified sleep app. We wanted to add NFTs and looked for a plugin to bridge MetaMask with the game engine we were using. It turned out none existed. So we set out to build our own plugin. Other devs started joining our Discord to ask if they could use our plugin. We pivoted, focused on the plugin, and supported some awesome projects, before ultimately shutting down the project when the NFT market went bust.
Now
It always bugged me that I never made my own game. Now, I'm focused on making something really fun. My indie studio, sym.io, is my solo project. In my previous project, I deployed and managed all our AWS servers and coded our React front end, which comes in handy for game development. I learn quickly and always love a challenge.
Inspo
I'm inspired by indie devs and small studios doing outsized amazing things. Games like Valheim that have an amazing story and are really fun to play. I enjoy devast.io, hordes.io, and take inspiration from some retro games too.
Don't forget to have fun,
